Lake Cumberland has a mild climate with four distinct seasons. In winter, the Lake Cumberland area receives moderate snowfall, but it enjoys a relatively long outdoor recreational season. The average snowfall is 11 inches. Summers can be very warm and humid, but cool evenings are also not unusual. Thunderstorms are possible at Lake Cumberland where the normal annual precipitation is 47.14 inches. The wettest seasons are spring and summer, and the driest is fall. Days are very pleasant in spring and fall, but with crisp, cool nights, so a light jacket is recommended. The average annual daytime temperature at Lake Cumberland is 58.9 degrees. Average lake temperatures range from 48 degrees in January to 84 degrees in August.
